Why choose post frame construction for your project? Before answering this, we need to understand the basics of construction. Firstly, there are multiple types of construction that have pros and cons and each type has its benefits. Just as there is no “one size fits all” approach to home ownership, there is also no “one size fits all” approach to construction. Banks generally use steel frame/masonry construction methods, homes generally use conventional light frame construction (stud framed), massive buildings like Amazon fulfilment warehouses utilize precast post-tension/pre-tension concrete construction, and many structures utilize hybrid construction methods to create new and innovative ways to get the job done.
So why choose post frame? Post frame is the most cost-effective method for creating large, enclosed spaces. The foundation is comprised of a footing pad at the bottom of a caisson that the post rests on. The caisson is then backfilled with compacted earth, crushed gravel, concrete, or a hybrid of materials that best suit the use of the structure and the soil types of the build site. This makes for a very affordable and strong foundation. As the height of the wall of the structure goes up, the depth of the post embedment also increases. This allows for a greater uplift resistance and sheer resistance to wind loads and the like.
Post frame structures also can be easily built in multiple phases to accommodate a tighter budget. The structure shell can be erected and used right away with a dirt floor, and then at a future date, the concrete floor could be poured, finally the interior finished out in a third phase. It gives you flexibility to change your desired use of the structure at any point if you desire. A horse barn could be converted into a home office; an RV garage could be converted into a living space; A living space transformed into commercial office space; the sky is the limit. They are also very easily added to and expanded should you want to put a home office on the equipment shed, or a short-term rental apartment onto your garage. With other construction types, additions can be very expensive and time consuming to add even cold storage to your shop.
At the end of the day, post frame is the most cost-effective way to create a functional space that can be easily modified to suit your needs both present and future. A common misconception is that post frame buildings need to be clad with ag panel siding and roofing. This is not the case. Any siding and roofing materials can be accommodated. The reason most use the ag panel is because it is the most cost-effective way of enclosing the structure, but it is certainly not limited to such aesthetic choices. They did excellent work. I have had many compliments from other contractors. Doing work on my building. All of them commented on how well built the building is. The extra time they took to do the little things that most people don't notice.Posted on Google![]()

We recently had the opportunity to work with Colorado Post Frame Solutions to build our home. Right away we were impressed with Peter’s knowledge and expertise with architectural design. Peter was able to help design our home and roof pitch to match our vision perfectly. Every step of the build we were amazed at the craftsmanship of the team and attention to detail. Every trade after them complemented the building and how perfectly each wall was lined up. We would be happy to recommend Peter and his team and would love to choose them to work with again in the future.
